What To Wear: Rainy Days

The skies have been very cloudy lately which can only mean one thing: rain! Although I wish it were snow - I shouldn't get ahead of myself though there might be snow in the forecast for next week! I thought this would be a really cute outfit for work or for a day running errands when there is potential for rain...what do you think?

Beauty Boxes: Are They Worth It?

COM
As someone who works in the beauty industry & spends the majority of her freetime reading blogs, I realized that beauty boxes are very popular. I was skeptical at first because shelling out about $120 for a 6-month subscription can be kind of intimidating. But I took the plunge knowing that I could end up a bit unhappy but that it will give me a good feel for the whole “beauty box” thing.

So the past few months I’ve gotten a variety of different beauty boxes and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. For those of you who don’t know, beauty boxes usually contain about 5-6 products usually considered “high end” brands but varying in size – some are sample size, occasionally there are some full sized. Beauty boxes are a great way of getting a variety of different products you normally wouldn’t buy but for a low monthly price.

In my experience I have usually gotten at least one full sized product in every one of my boxes. And usually the full sized product is well over the price you even pay for the beauty box (for example, a full size product may cost $40 in store but the beauty box only costs about $20 a month). So right there you are getting your money’s worth.

If you are into beauty and want to branch out to different brands I highly suggest investing in beauty boxes. Even if you are someone who has never even step foot in a Sephora but wants to try some new cosmetics, I think this would be the best way to go.

Some of the beauty boxes I’m subscribed to:

Glossybox – they provide GREAT boxes. And they take their time with packaging so everything is always super cute. Their subscription is $21 a month but if you choose the 6-month or yearly subscription you get it for a cheaper price. They have a referral process so if you are interested in checking out some beauty boxes, go here.

Birchbox – not as great as Glossybox, but still great products nonetheless. Birchbox subscription is only $10 a month and although they have a waitlist (usually only a 2 week period) for $10 a month you can’t go wrong. This would be a great starter box if you are still on the fence. Join through the referral program here!

Julep – If you are obsessed with nailpolish the way I am then this is definitely a great box to check out. This subscription is $20 a month and they allow you to preview the items that would be included in your box. They also let you choose a different “profile” if you don’t like what they picked for you – and another great thing about Julep is that they allow you to skip an entire month if you are unhappy with all the choices or just low on funds. Subscribe to Julep via a referral link here!

Another great thing about beauty boxes is that they usually have their own “stores” where you can purchase the full sized products of some of the samples you have received in one of your monthly boxes. And they usually provide coupons too! Even if you are unhappy with some of the products you received, its not like it would be considered a waste of money. If anything, give it to a relative or a friend…you never know who may like it!
